MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS

Chaga Mushroom: Clinically proven to be one of nature’s oldest, safest and most powerful medicinal herbs.  Chaga is an immune support, adaptogen, antioxidant, inhibits tumor growth, anti-mutagenic, cancer prevention, anti-aging.  Chaga has the highest anti-oxidant value measuring 36,557 compared to gogi berries at 400, acai at 800 and blueberries at 24.5. Chaga has the highest ORAC score for natural foods or supplements as tested by the USDA and Tufts University in Boston, MA.  Chaga Mushroom is classified as neither a plant nor animal. Reishi Mushroom: supports and regulates immune function at the level of the bone marrow, increasing production of immune cells.  It is used in China to protect the immune system from damaging effects of chemotherapy and radiation.  Reishi is a heart tonic, reducing blood pressure, cholesterol and keeps the arteries pliable and soft.  Helps the respiratory system by facilitating oxygen absorption, supports and protects the liver against damage from chemicals, toxins and infection, scavenges free radicals, has antihistamine activity, is antimicrobial and antifungal, absorbs heavy metals and  promotes nutrient absorption.  Reishi is known to open the heart, calm the spirit, enhance wisdom and support spiritual insight.

Cordyceps Mushroom: is known to have anti-aging effects, detoxifies the body, boosts immune function, improves respiratory and heart health, stamina and athletic performance, acts as a natural aphrodisiac, prevents certain types of abnormal cell growths, slows the aging process, fights diabetes and improves liver function.

Shitake Mushroom: Contains all eight essential amino acids along with a type of essential fatty acid called linoleic acid. Linoleic acid helps with weight loss and building muscle. It also has bone-building benefits, improves digestion, and reduces food allergies and sensitivities.  Shitake supports immune function, helping to combat many diseases, including cancer cells.  The lentinan in shitake helps heal chromosome damage caused by anticancer treatments and may help inhibit the growth of tumor cells. Aloe is an adaptogen, helps balance PH, hydrates the skin, boosts the immune system, heals wounds, relieves or prevents itching, and helps heal burns, abrasions, psoriasis and bug bites. Bilberry Leaf: This fruit has a reputation for supporting the circulatory system. Black Walnut is an astringent that helps heal rheumatism, gout, glandular swelling, gum problems, scrofula, sweaty feet, acne, dandruff and various skin problems including acne, ringworm and parasites.

Blackberry Leaves: an astringent and tonic that helps heal damaged tissue.

Burdock: antibiotic, antifungal, diuretic, hypoglycemia, antitumor, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, hepatoprotective, gout, fevers, kidney stones, detoxification, removes toxins, elimination of waste products, chronic skin and arthritic conditions, skin disorders, abscesses, usually used with dandelion.  Burdock is considered a depurative herb or “blood purifier”.   It has a reputation for draining toxic substances from the blood, including byproducts of normal metabolism. Burdock root aids in treating scalp problems. It helps get rid of itching and dandruff. It also improves hair strength, restores shine and reverses thinning.

Calendula: anti-inflammatory, relieves muscle spasms, astringent, prevents hemorrhaging, heals wounds, antiseptic, detoxifying, mildly estrogenic, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibacterial, helps with cuts, wounds, varicose veins, skin problems, burns, rashes, ringworm, athletes foot and thrush, diaper rash, cradle cap, sore nipples, gastritis, peptic ulcers, regional ileitis, colitis, liver and gallbladder, menstrual pain, menstrual bleeding, douche for yeast infections, acne and boils, bites, stings, varicose veins, wounds and bruises. Calendula is soothing to sensitive scalps, is rich in plant minerals that protect the hair from free radicals, and the scalp from bacterial growth. A calendula hair product conditions, adds shine and can be used to create warm highlights.

Cardamom: gastrointestinal protection, cholesterol control, abnormal cell growths, relief from cardiovascular issues, and the improvement of blood circulation in the body, dental diseases and urinary tract infections. Cardamom possesses aphrodisiac properties and is also used as a cure for impotency, erectile dysfunction, and premature ejaculation. The ancient healing art of Ayurveda recommends cardamom for low libido.

Cat’s Claw:  Works well with Echinacea to support weakened immune system, counters infection and inflammation, antioxidant, contains cellular damage due to chronic degenerative diseases.  Helps with infections, chronic fatigue syndrome, HIV/AIds, abnormal cell growths.

Catnip: It is effective if you are suffering from itchy scalp. It provides moisture to your dry scalp.

Cayenne:  stimulant, tonic, relieves muscle spasms, antiseptic, increases sweating, increases blood flow to skin, analgesic, poor circulation, regulates temperature, psoriasis, neuralgia, pain, headache, arthritis, microbial infections, analgesic, removes waste products, increases the flow of nutrients to the tissues, stimulates the secretion of digestive juices, counters infection, gargle for sore throat, diarrhea.

Chamomile is an anti-inflammatory, anti-allergenic, anti-spasmodic and relaxant that helps heal wounds, reduce pain, ease tense muscles, relieve stress and irritability, assist sleep as well as assisting digestive complaints, itchy skin, eczema, bites, stings, sores, wounds and rashes.  Chamomile is a great conditioner for damaged and dry hair. When used for rinsing after shampoo it will help restore shine and bring out the natural highlights for blondes. It also helps to strengthen the hair to prevent breakage, tangling and split ends.

Chaparral:  rheumatic diseases, venereal infections, urinary infections, cancer, leukemia, skin afflictions, acne, eczema, sores, wounds, rashes, anti-viral, tooth decay, parasites, burns, colds, bronchitis, anti-inflammatory, arthritis, itchiness, chicken pox, small pox, bruises, prevents disease, dandruff, digestive problems, strong anti-oxidant, cleans blood, gout, anti-aging, circulation.

Cinnamon:  warming stimulant carminative, antispasmodic, antiseptic, antiviral, reduces blood pressure, fevers, antibacterial, antifungal,  digestive problems, vomiting, diarrhea, aching muscles, viral conditions, colds, flu.  Cinnamon has been used in love potions since ancient times.  It is warming, improves circulation and is mildly stimulating.

Chlorophyll is a green pigment in plants that is instrumental in photosynthesis. It is a powerful natural deodorizer that helps heal damaged tissue and skin diseases providing an abundance of oxygen to the blood and body. Chlorophyll binds with toxic metals and carcinogens and helps remove them from the body. It protects the DNA and cells from damage by eliminating free radicals. It is a powerful superfood that helps cure cancer, candida, infections, insomnia, sinusitis, pancreatitis, hormone imbalances, heavy menstrual cycles and digestive problems. Cloves.    Organic Cloves and Clove oil are an antiseptic, stimulant, analgesic, prevents vomiting, antispasmodic, eliminates parasites, pain relief, helps heal acne, skin ulcers, sores, styes, repels insects, heals mouth sores, toothache, viral infections, malaria, cholera, tuberculosis, parasites, scabies, gas, colic, abdominal bloating, coughs, muscle spasms, stimulates the mind and body, and improves memory.  It increases blood flow and body temperature.

Comfrey helps repair all kinds of damaged tissue, is an anti-inflammatory, and promotes the healing of bruises, sprains, fractures, acne, boils, psoriasis, fungal skin infections, stiff and aching joints, and scars.  It is high in Calcium and Vitamin C and simulates healing activity. In folk medicine it is sometimes referred to as “knitbone” for its ability to speed wound healing.

Cranesbill belongs to the Geranium family.  It is a natural astringent and antiseptic that has been used since ancient times for hemorrhoids, bleeding, diarrhea, skin infections, thrush, mouth sores, toothaches, sore throats, insect stings and bites, bacterial infections and rashes.

Damiana has been used to boost both male and female sexual potency, increase energy and genital nerve sensitivity, relax the body, help with menstrual problems, depression, impotence, asthma, anxiety, nervousness, mild depression, digestive issues, constipation and as a general tonic to improve wellness.  It stimulates the intestinal tract and brings oxygen to the genital area and helps restore the ability to achieve orgasm. 

Dandelion root is rich in iron, helps treat dandruff and dry hair issues. Dandelion leaves are loaded with minerals and vitamins, especially vitamin A, that help balance sebum. Dandelion infusions have been used to add sheen and light highlights to hair.  Dandelion is a tonic, removes poisons from the body, fever, insomnia, constipation, hypochondria, gallstones, jaundice, liver problems, rheumatism, gout, stiff joints, edema, promotes the formation of bile. 

Devils Claw: anti-inflammatory, analgesic, digestive stimulant, sores, ulcers, boils, rheumatic conditions, joint and muscular problems, gout, back pain, fibrositis, rheumatoid arthritis.

Dong quai  is a Chinese herb that has a reputation as a “blood purifier” and treatment for anemia. The root is rich in a variety of vitamins and minerals needed for blood production including vitamin B12, folate, and vitamin C. It also contains vitamin A, carotenoids, biotin, calcium, magnesium, and phytosterols.  It is known as “female ginseng” and has been used widely for fatigue, gynecological ailments and high blood pressure.  Dong quai makes peripheral blood vessels relax, which improves sexual function.

Echinacea:  The phytochemicals and other nutrients contained in Echinacea help combat tumors, prevent abnormal cell growths, boost the immune system,  greatly reduce the chance of catching a common cold and reduce its duration, and prevent recurring infections.  Echinaces is a natural painkiller, and is especially effective for pain associated with the bowels, headaches, herpes, gonorrhea, measles, snake bites, sore throats, stomach ache, tonsillitis, and toothache.  It is an anti-inflammatory and helps relieve chronic inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis.  Inflammation is the #1 cause of many diseases.  Echinacea helps remove and combat the toxins that cause inflammation.

Elderberry Plant: Most of the parts of the elderberry tree are used in herbal medicines, including the leaves, bark, flowers and berries.  It helps boost the immune system and is good for colds, fever, coughs, congestion, infections, diabetes, rheumatism, inflammatory diseases, skin disorders, constipation, water retention, pain, viruses, respiratory infections and flu.

Elder Flowers are mildly astringent and help soothe a dry, irritated scalp. Hair-softening elder flower also helps dry damaged hair.

Eleuthero Ginseng: increases oxygen available to the cells, encourages blood flow, boosts immune response, protects DNA, improves mental and physical stamina, reduces effects of stress, antioxidant, improves memory, increases libido, strengthens bones, helps with herpes and sleep disorders.

Fennel:  The ancient Egyptians used fennel to boost women’s libido.  Fennel contains chemicals that may increase sex drive.  It also improves longevity, digestive bloating and pain, stimulates appetite, diuretic, anti-inflammatory, kidney stones, cystitis, sore throat, mild expectorant, colic, painful teething, increases breast milk, eye wash for sore eyes and conjunctivitis. 

Fenugreek provides natural proteins for the nourishment and health of hair, stimulates blood flow to the root of the hair, and was used to combat hair loss. Used as a treatment for dandruff, thinning hair, and damaged hair, it is said to preserve hair's natural color and keep hair silky. Fenugreek may increase sex drive, lower blood sugar, good for fever, gastritis, gastric ulcers, induces childbirth, increases breast milk, lowers cholesterol, inhibits liver cancer, antidiabetic. 

Feverfew is used in the prevention of headaches, migraines, arthritis, fevers, muscle stress and pain, to reduce high blood pressure, decrease stomach irritation, enhance digestion and kidney function and decrease menstrual difficulties. 

Frankincense: the Frankincense compound is effective even among abnormal cell growths and tumors that have been resistant to chemotherapy.  It has immune enhancing abilities, antiseptic and disinfectant, helps eliminate cold and flu germs, strengthens skin and improve its tone, elasticity, defense mechanisms against bacteria or blemishes, tones and lifts skin, reduces appearance of scars and acne, and heals wounds and improves stretch marks, reduces symptoms associated with menstruation and menopause by balancing hormone levels. It can help relieve pain, cramps, constipation, headaches, anxiety, nausea, fatigue, and mood swings. Frankincense oil also helps with regulating estrogen production and reduces the risk of tumor or cyst development in pre-menopausal women.

Grape Leaves: astringent and anti-inflammatory, diarrhea, heavy menstrual bleeding, uterine hemorrhage, canker sores, vaginal discharge, varicose veins, hemorrhoids, capillary fragility, eyewash, cooling and soothing to skin.

Gravel Root has many soothing and astringent properties on mucus membranes.  It supports healthy metabolic actions and assists the body in removing excess fluids, promoting good kidney health.  It helps heal infections and reduces the inflammation from gout, arthritis, stiff and aching muscles and joints and uric acid build-up in the tissues.

Hawthorne:  cardiotonic, dilates blood vessels, relaxant, antioxidant, relaxes and dilates the arteries, increases the flow of blood to the heart, reduces angina, antioxidant, reduces degeneration of blood vessels, lowers blood pressure, kidney and bladder stones, diuretic, poor memory.

Hops helps heal and repair damaged hair. It contains a nourishing oil that is an effective hair conditioner and thickener. Regarded as useful for hair growth, hops help stimulate scalp circulation. Horney Goat Weed: Native to the Mediterranean and Asia.  Increases libido, improves erectile function, heart and liver conditions, enhances blood flow.

Horsetail: This herb is effective for curing problems of oily hair. It is a rich source of silica. It makes your hair strong, sleek, shiny and manageable. It also stimulates hair growth as it enhances scalp circulation.

Irish Moss is very high in iodine and contains many beneficial vitamins and trace minerals such as sulfur, iron, calcium, selenium, magnesium, potassium and folate.  It has been used historically to strengthen the body and speed recovery from weakened physical states and digestive disorders.   It is both an expectorant and demulcent and can be very helpful expelling mucus and relieving congestion, coughs and sore throats.  It has been used extensively as an anti-inflammatory, and is especially beneficial for joints and skeletal structure, especially when used with MSM.  It has many nourishing effects on the skin due to its high sulfur content and its lubrication long-chain polysaccharides.  It is often applied directly to the skin to help rehydrate and moisturize the skin layers.  It is known to help with issues like eczema, sunburns, rashes and psoriasis.  It strengthens connective tissues and cartilages, reduces swelling and can be very helpful for arthritis.

Kelp is a seaweed rich in iron and potassium. It also contains iodine, the basis for thyroid hormone production. It reduces the healing time of injuries and fractures.

Lavender is a strong natural antiseptic, helping heal wounds, sores, insect stings, relieves pain, inflammation, and muscle tension, and stimulates blood flow.  Lavender is one of the well known herbs that will help in boosting hair growth and also reduce baldness. It is known to have antibacterial properties that will help in soothing as well as healing the skin irritations and infections on the scalp and is very effective in treating dandruff and dry and flaky scalp. Regular use of lavender hair oil will help in preventing hair loss and will also help in hair re-growth.

Lemon Balm is a mild astringent, makes a very good rinse for those with oily hair. The toning properties of Lemon Balm help balance and refresh hair and scalp. Lemongrass has astringent and tonic properties that make it useful in the treatment of scalp inflammations. Lemongrass balances skin oil by helping to normalize oil production and is useful for both oily and dry hair.
